Safe Eyes Internet Filtering
Recently I have been hearing Rick Burgess from the Rick and Bubba show advertising an internet filter called “Safe Eyes”. Personally, I use Covenant Eyes, which is basic internet accountability software. However, Safe Eyes seems to be a much more involved software (including monitoring social networking sites, instant messaging as well as other relevant elements). Additionally, Safe Eyes is a cheaper alternative than Covenant Eyes at $4.16/month (you pay yearly at $49.99 with Safe Eyes) vs. Covenant Eyes ($7.99/month paying monthly). Both are good options, but the point is...
Read MoreCounseling Those in Sexual Sin
Tim Challies, a Christian author and blogger, recently posted a helpful article about how we can counsel people who are struggling with sexual sin. I found this to be very helpful, which is one reason I am passing it on. This article does, however, contain some sexually graphic, but topically appropriate language. Please be aware of this before reading. How do you counsel someone with a sexual problem, particularly a problem of pornography or masturbation? This article assumes that a counselor has a sound biblical theology on matters related to sexual sin; it intends only to offer a brief...
Read MoreXXX Church
Wow, I thought doing mission work in China, India, and Africa was hard. You will be shocked, maybe a little concerned, but definitely challenged by XXX Church.com, which is a church that seeks to minister to people involved in the mega-industry of pornography. I call it the mega-industry because more money and technology goes into and comes out of the porn market. Streaming video, online retail, and many other technological advancements that we enjoy the benefits of all came as a result of online pornography.Well, whether or not you agree with their ministry, XXX Church.com is working to...
Read MorePorn-Again Christian by Mark Driscoll
Recently, Mark Driscoll published a free PDF resource that is entitled Porn-Again Christian::A Frank Discussion on Pornography and Masturbation. This e-book is meant to honestly address these contemporary issues that men face with theology and practical advice naturally conveyed in a way only Driscoll could. The chapters are short, but hard-hitting. Therefore, I would like to encourage all men to read this e-book with a spirit of openness and a desire for accountability. [DISCLAIMER] Due to the extreme nature of this subject, I would not recommend this e-book for casual reading. It is not...
Read Moremore help with pornography
One of the aspects that the church has to address once we begin to confess our imbalance on sex is how this imbalance has kept us from having influence over those involved in pornography and sexual sin. is an organization that I wrote a post on recently that seeks to provide a pathway to freedom for our men who are addicted to pornography. Additionally, there are a few organizations that seek to confront the pornography industry head on. I appreciate the ministry called XXX Church, even though it is a mission field that I am not sure I could ever be called to. I would encourage you...
